Slúchadlo #7: Ondrej Mankovecký — our collective 432 hz frequency

Dielo our collective 432 hz frequency pracuje s odkazom na frekvenciu 432 Hz, ktorej mnohí pripisujú harmonizujúce a liečivé účinky na ľudské telo a myseľ. Paradoxom názvu však je, že namiesto upokojujúcej a liečivej frekvencie dielo využíva zozbierané zvukové záznamy z internetu, ktoré vytvárajú chaotické a prestimulované prostredie. Dielo odkazuje na nekonečný tok reels alebo iných krátkych videí, ktorými je digitálny priestor zahltený. Prostredníctvom zvukovej koláže kritizuje autor súčasný spôsob oddychovania, ktorý je postavený na neustálej stimulácii a zahltení pozornosti. Absurdnosť dnešného oddychu spočíva v tom, že namiesto regenerácie mozog ostáva nepretržite aktívny, vystavený rýchlemu sledu podnetov, ktoré znemožňujú skutočný odpočinok.

Ondrej Mankovecký je študentom Centra audiovizuálnych štúdií (CAS) na Filmová a televízna fakulta Akadémie múzických umení v Prahe. Aktuálne sa vo svojej tvorbe zameriava na digitálny priestor a jeho ovplyvňovanie generácie žijúcej dnes. Pod svojím hudobným projektom on_drwej v máji vydal svoje debutové EP destained. Venuje sa aj svetelnému dizajnu a prepájaniu audiovizuálnych médií do autorských performačných formátov.

The work draws on the 432 Hz frequency, which many believe has harmonizing and healing effects on the human body and mind. The paradox of the title, however, is that instead of a soothing and healing frequency, the work uses sound recordings collected from the internet that create a chaotic and overstimulated environment. The work refers to the endless stream of reels or other short videos that flood the digital space. Through an audio collage, the artist critiques the contemporary way of relaxing, which is based on constant stimulation and an overload of attention. The absurdity of today's relaxation lies in the fact that instead of regenerating, the brain remains constantly active, exposed to a rapid succession of stimuli that prevent true rest.

Ondrej Mankovecký is a student at the Center for Audiovisual Studies (CAS) at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. His current work focuses on the digital space and its influence on today's generation. Under his music project on_drwej, he released his debut EP, destained, in May. He also works in lighting design and integrates audiovisual media into his own performance formats.
