On 19 October, LOM space will host Mikrozvuk, featuring Lithuanian-born, Brussels-based sound artist emer and Peruvian sound artist Sajjra Xhrs Galarreta.
Lithuanian born, Brussels based Marija Rasa, performing and releasing music under the moniker emer, explores sound rooted in the meditative space of dub, flowing through slow fluctuations of bass, texture, and voice. A graduate of the Institute of Sonology in The Hague, Rasa also develops a series of multichannel acousmatic works called microlands through a meticulous micro-montage approach. Her musical releases include Sea Salt on Lillerne Tapes, the LP Fog on Short Span, a collaboration album you and me with Ugnė Uma on STROOM. She is also one half of the electroacoustic duo ugne&maria, whose albums were released on the labels Futura Resistenza and Hands in the Dark. Besides, Marija is a long-term resident of Radio Vilnius and Kiosk Radio in Brussels.
Acoustic session with Andean-Amazonian ceramic globular flutes:
A physical sonic experience rooted in deep breathing, silence, resonance, and tonal imprecision, played with Andean-Amazonian globular flutes and, occasionally, other ancestral instruments from the region (crafted from materials such as shell, bone, clay, or ceramics). The performance style is influenced by the "broken," dissonant, intense, and energetic sound characteristic of rituals in those regions. Otoacoustic situationism and rural futurism.
Sajjra Xhrs Galarreta is a Peruvian musician, composer and installation artist. He researches and highlights the acoustic qualities of bodies and spaces, and transduces imperceptible physical phenomena to an audible dimension –as electromagnetic fields, sub-aquatic sounds or otoacoustic emissions, among others.
