Kult Koruth
Both Koruth and Kult masek return to LOM with their joint project Kult Koruth. Both are prominent figures of the Prague underground. Anna Ruth is, among other things, a visual artist and performs as a sound artist and DJ under the name Koruth. The modular synthesizer player Michael Nechvátal is known under the moniker Kult masek, but you may also know him from the krautrock band Raw Deal or the drone/noise duo Jasnovidec.
Together, the duo's modular synthesizer is complemented by Koruth's vocals, which are fused in loops, abstract sound design, and field recordings. All the sounds here are forged hot and sounded against a backdrop of bubbling, rumbling, organ or guitar synths. It's music that straddles the line between abstraction and stories told on the threshold of mythic evasion.
jcqs anqtl
Where all heavy distortion ends, the chirping of birds outside the window begins. The reverse is also true. jcqs anqtl currently lives in Bratislava, but you may know him as the "Žilina's" curator of the New Synagogue and the Hviezdne noci festival. Like any curator, he wears a hat and is often tired. You can feel it in his music. He calls it confused and cheaply tired. We can name other hallmarks: emo, romantic kitsch, 808s, drowned digital strings, ambient as a journey, distorted guitar intertwined with field recordings, like when you design a well-designed permaculture garden. His latest EP release so far is called Rain Falls on a Thousand Swans and is self-released. Click. The name sounds ambiguous, since jcqs anqtl, or Richard Michalík, organized, among other things, the concert of the band Swans, and not just anyone can say that.
